Every pursuit this atlas records that people take up for leisure rather than trade: gardening, stamp and coin collecting, birdwatching, amateur radio, model railroading, genealogy, chess, homebrewing, scrapbooking, fishkeeping, geocaching and their kin, grouped into fourteen sub categories from collecting through tabletop and strategy games. This category excludes a practiced hand discipline with its own body of technique and tradition, which belongs to Crafts, and it excludes the tools a hobbyist uses, which are described in their own Tools and Equipment entries and linked back here by relationship.
