Gomoku, also called five in a row, is an abstract strategy board game traditionally played with Go stones on a Go board, most often the 15 by 15 size used today though a 19 by 19 board was standard in the past. Because pieces are normally neither moved nor removed once placed, gomoku can also be played as a paper and pencil game, and the game is known by different names in different countries.
