Metalworking Cutting Tools

Hand tools used to cut, shear, punch or scrape metal that has not been heated, as opposed to the hot work done at a forge. This includes cutting pliers such as the diagonal pliers, files and hand scrapers that remove material by abrasion, hand saws built for metal such as the hacksaw and jewelers' piercing saw, sheet metal cutting tools such as snips, sheet metal shears and the pipe cutter, the cold chisel and knockout punch used to cut or punch a hole through metal, bolt cutters, and the wire stripper used to cut away insulation from an electrical wire. A tool whose primary purpose is gripping or holding rather than cutting is grouped instead under metalworking gripping and holding tools.
