Snips

Metalworking and Blacksmithing Tools

Snips, also called shears in this context, are metalworking hand tools used to cut sheet metal and other tough webs, with straight or curved cutting edges depending on the shape of cut needed. There are two broad categories: tinner's snips, which resemble ordinary large scissors, and compound-action snips, which use a compound-leverage handle system to multiply the cutting force the hand applies.
