Sharpening Jig

A sharpening jig is a tool used to hold a woodworking blade at a fixed, repeatable angle while it is sharpened. Many woodworking tools carry a steel blade ground to a fine edge, and that edge is formed where a bevel meets the blade's flat face; the bevel is first shaped, usually by grinding, and then refined by honing until the edge is sharp enough for clean work. A jig holds the blade steady at the correct bevel angle through this process, which is difficult to keep consistent by hand alone.
