Weaving

Fiber
Crossed Warp and Weft

Interlacing two sets of threads at right angles, warp and weft, on a loom. Weaving clothed the ancient world, drove the machines of the industrial revolution, and survives at home on everything from a child's frame loom to a floor loom, carrying pattern traditions as distinct as tartan, ikat and tapestry. Origin
Silk weaving from silkworm cocoons has been practiced in China since about 3500 BCE, with intricately woven and dyed silk recovered from a Chinese tomb dating to roughly 2700 BCE, showing the craft was already well developed by then. 1
