The American Horticultural Society is an American nonprofit membership organization devoted to horticulture and gardening education, founded in 1922. It has been headquartered at River Farm in Fairfax County, Virginia, near Alexandria, since 1973. The society conducts annual events, publishes the magazine The American Gardener, runs an internship program, and administers national awards recognizing achievement in horticulture and gardening literature.
