The International Go Federation is the international governing body connecting national Go federations worldwide, founded on March 18, 1982, by 29 founding members under the leadership of Shizuo Asada. Headquartered in Tokyo, it organizes the World Amateur Go Championship and other international tournaments, publishes information on Go activity to its member organizations, and describes itself as apolitical and non-religious in its aim to promote fair play among players. As of 2023 it had 77 member nations across five continents plus five regional association members.
