Kite Flying

Cycling and Kite Hobbies

Flying a tethered, wind-borne craft for pleasure rather than for any technical or scientific purpose. Hobbyists range from casual flyers of a simple diamond or delta kite on a beach or open field to builders of large single-line show kites and skilled pilots of sport and stunt kites flown on two or four lines. Kite flying supports a whole further hobby culture of its own: festivals, kite clubs, competitions judged on flight and design, and kite-making as a craft in its own right, practiced across cultures that developed kite traditions independently over centuries.
