Airsoft

A team combat hobby played with replica firearms that fire lightweight plastic pellets, on dedicated outdoor fields or indoor arenas built around objective-based scenarios, military simulation or straightforward elimination games. Players wear protective eyewear and often full field gear, and the hobby supports its own market in highly detailed replica weapons, upgrade parts and team apparel. It grew out of 1970s Japan, where domestic restrictions on firearm ownership pushed enthusiasts toward realistic non-lethal replicas, before spreading internationally as its own distinct hobby from paintball.
