Fermenting fruit, most often grapes, into wine at home in small batches for the maker's own table rather than for sale. Hobbyists work with kits of concentrated juice or with fresh fruit, control fermentation with added yeast, and age the finished wine in carboys, barrels or bottles, alongside a homebrewing-style club culture of shared equipment, recipes and tasting. Alongside homebrewing beer, it is one of the more established fermentation hobbies practiced at home, with its own long amateur history predating the modern commercial wine industry's own scale.
