International Amateur Radio Union

The International Amateur Radio Union is an international confederation of national amateur radio societies, giving them a forum for shared concerns and representing them collectively to the International Telecommunication Union. It was established in 1925, with its constitution adopted on April 17 and ratified the following day. Organized in three regional divisions, the union has successfully lobbied for amateur radio spectrum allocations including the 30, 17 and 12 meter bands, and as of 2021 comprised 174 national member societies across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia and the Pacific.
