Woodworking machines and hand tools whose defining feature is an electric, battery or pneumatic motor rather than muscle power alone, covering the powered equivalent of many of the hand tool groups above. This includes power saws such as the circular saw, table saw, band saw, miter saw and chainsaw, power planing and shaping machines such as the jointer, thickness planer, router and wood shaper, power drilling and driving tools such as the hammer drill, impact driver and screw gun, power sanders and grinders, and the lathe, pole lathe and rose engine lathe used to turn wood on a rotating spindle. A hand powered equivalent of the same function, such as a hand plane or brace, is grouped instead under its own hand tool function.
