In woodworking, a fishtail, also called a fishtail gouge or fishtail spade gouge, is a chisel with a flared blade shaped like a fish's tail. It is used for light finishing work, lettering, skimming and modeling, and its narrowed neck lets it reach into tight spaces a full-width gouge could not fit into.
