Woodworking Saws

Hand saws used to cut wood by hand rather than by a motor, ranging from small fine toothed saws for delicate joinery to large saws worked by one or two people for felling and cutting logs to length. This includes general purpose crosscut and rip saws, specialty joinery saws such as the backsaw, coping saw, fretsaw, Japanese pull saw and keyhole saw, and the miter box that guides a hand saw to a precise angle. A saw whose defining feature is an electric or battery motor, such as the circular saw, table saw or chainsaw, is grouped instead under woodworking power tools, since the motor rather than the blade shape is what sets those tools apart.
