Framing Hammer

Woodworking Tools

A framing hammer is a heavy-duty form of claw hammer built for heavy wood construction, particularly house framing and concrete formwork, with a straight claw and a handle of wood, metal or fiberglass. Head weights run from twenty to thirty-two ounces for steel heads and twelve to sixteen ounces for titanium ones, and features such as heavier heads, longer handles and a sharp, checkerboard-milled striking face for gripping nails let a framing hammer drive large nails into dimensional lumber quickly.
