Track Saw

Woodworking Tools

A track saw, also called a plunge-cut saw or plunge saw, is a handheld circular saw that differs from an ordinary circular saw in being able to plunge down into the material to a set depth partway through the cut, and its depth of cut is itself adjustable, letting it also cut a shallow groove. Compared with an ordinary handheld circular saw it is safer to operate and produces less splintering and tear-out, which has made it a common tool among joiners, carpenters and kitchen fitters, and for cutting laminates or insulation.
