A tool belt, also called a tool harness, tool apron or tool vest, is a belt, apron or harness worn around the waist, torso or shoulders and fitted with pouches, pockets, loops and holsters for carrying hand tools and small equipment. Tool belts are common in construction, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and other skilled trades, letting a worker keep frequently used tools within easy reach while leaving both hands free. Some tool belts add a harness, suspenders or a vest to spread the weight of the tools across the shoulders rather than the waist, easing strain on the lower back.
