Presser Foot

Needlework and Sewing Tools

A presser foot is an attachment used with a sewing machine to hold fabric flat as it is fed through the machine and stitched. Working alongside the machine's feed dogs, it keeps the fabric from rising and falling with the motion of the needle, which would otherwise cause the stitching to pucker; the attachment is typically spring-hinged, giving it flexibility while still applying enough downward force to hold the fabric in place.
