All Hand Sewing Needles and Needle Holders

The needles used to stitch or embroider by hand, together with the small tools that protect the fingers and keep needles safe. A tool belongs here when its cited source describes it as a needle, a punch needle, a thimble or a holder for sewing needles. It excludes machine needles and the larger frames and hoops that hold cloth. The group runs from the bone and bronze needlecases carried on a belt in earlier centuries to the steel needle plated for corrosion resistance that a modern sewer buys by the packet.
