The hand tools and ovens of glassmaking, including the blowpipe that gathers and blows molten glass, the punty that holds a finished piece, the marver on which a gather is rolled and shaped, the lehr that anneals glass as it cools and the cutter that scores finished sheet glass. A tool belongs here when its cited source describes it as used in making or cutting glass. It excludes the torches and mandrels of lampwork, which no source in this atlas yet places. Glassblowers work these tools in sequence at the furnace and the bench, and a piece may pass through the blowpipe, the marver, the punty and the lehr before it is finished.
