Tabletop Role-Playing Game

A tabletop role-playing game, also called a pen-and-paper role-playing game, is a form of role-playing game in which participants describe their characters' actions through speech and sometimes movement rather than through a video game or a board game's fixed pieces. Participants determine their characters' actions based on characterization, and those actions succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines that usually involves randomization such as dice rolls. Within the rules, players have the freedom to improvise, and their choices shape the direction and outcome of the game rather than following a fixed script.
