Hand cards are a pair of square or rectangular paddles, ranging from about two by two inches to four by eight inches, each set with a bed of fine wire teeth, used together to brush and align fiber such as wool before it is spun. The fiber is worked back and forth between the two paddles until it lies parallel, and the rolled preparation peeled off the card afterward is called a rolag.
