Memory Sport

Memory sport, also called competitive memory or the mind sport of memory, is a set of competitions in which participants try to memorize and then recall various kinds of information under set rules. It has been formally organized since 1991 and now includes national and international championships, with the World Memory Sports Council and the International Association of Memory as its main worldwide organizing bodies. One common event has competitors memorize the order of a shuffled deck of cards in as little time as possible and then arrange a fresh deck to match. Competitors generally rely on mnemonic techniques such as the method of loci and other forms of linking and chunking information, sharpened through extensive practice.
