Beatboxing

Beatboxing is the skill performance hobby of vocal percussion, primarily built around mimicking the sound of a drum machine, classically the Roland TR-808, using only the mouth, lips, tongue, throat and voice. Practitioners often extend the core drum-machine imitation into vocal recreations of turntable scratching and other instruments, building up a whole musical texture from the human voice alone. Beatboxing is closely associated with hip-hop culture, where it is often called hip-hop's fifth element alongside MCing, DJing, breakdancing and graffiti, though the skill and its performers extend well beyond hip-hop music, and the term beatboxing is also sometimes used more loosely for vocal percussion in general.
