Car Spotting is the hobby of observing or photographing interesting, prototype, vintage, rare, modified, sports and exotic supercars, pursued by car spotters, people with a strong amateur interest in the practice. It can take place almost anywhere, but car shows and rallies draw especially large crowds of car spotters and helped establish car spotting as a popular hobby in its own right, with major exhibitions such as the New York International Auto Show, the LA Auto Show, and events in Paris and Tokyo becoming prominent venues, alongside newer informal gatherings such as cars and coffee meetups that have built large followings through social media. Car spotters commonly share their photographs through social media platforms, dedicated websites, newspapers and books.
