Ant-Keeping is a hobby involving the capture, care and observation of ants and ant colonies, sometimes described as a form of lay myrmecology, the amateur counterpart to the scientific study of ants. The trend of keeping ants as pets has increased significantly over the past decade, though the hobby traces its popular origins to the mass marketed Uncle Milton's Ant Farm, which achieved commercial success in the late 1950s and introduced generations of hobbyists to keeping a colony in a home enclosure for observation.
