National Audubon Society

The National Audubon Society is an American nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to bird conservation and habitat protection, incorporated on January 5, 1905, making it one of the world's oldest conservation organizations. Headquartered in Manhattan, it operates through nearly 500 independent local chapters across the United States. Its programs include organized birdwatching field trips, the long running Christmas Bird Count citizen science survey run with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the eBird observation database developed with Cornell, and partnerships with groups such as BirdLife International to protect migratory birds beyond U.S. borders.
