Garden Club of America

Natural History and Horticultural Societies

The Garden Club of America is a nonprofit organization of about 200 local garden clubs and roughly 18,000 members across the United States, established in 1913 by Elizabeth Price Martin and Ernestine Abercrombie Goodman, building on Martin's earlier Garden Club of Philadelphia founded in 1904. It promotes the recording and enjoyment of American gardens along with conservation and horticulture, documenting garden history, supporting preservation efforts such as protecting California redwoods, and funding horticultural scholarships and exhibits. It is headquartered in New York City.
