Slip joint pliers are pliers whose pivot point, or fulcrum, can be moved to increase the size range their jaws will open to. Their jaws can be made thick, thin, regular or multiple, and a multiple-position slip joint provides two or more distinct pivoting positions to suit different jaw openings.
