Machinist Square

Metalworking and Blacksmithing Tools

A machinist square, also called an engineer's square, is the metalworker's counterpart to a woodworker's try square. It consists of a steel blade set into a heavier body at a ninety-degree angle, either welded or pinned in place, and it usually has a small notch at the inside corner of the square so that stray particles cannot build up there and throw off the square's accuracy.
