Hobby Horsing

Performing equestrian-style movements, dressage, show jumping and barrel racing among them, astride a self-made stick horse rather than a real animal, judged on the execution, technique and form of the human performer. The hobby originated in Finland and is especially popular among girls and young women aged roughly twelve to eighteen, reaching Australia by 2016 and gaining wider international attention through the 2017 documentary Hobbyhorse Revolution; the Finnish Equestrian Federation itself has endorsed it as a way for young people without access to real horses to engage with equestrian sport.
