Jacks (Glassblowing Tool)

Glassworking Tools

Jacks are a glassblower's hand tool shaped somewhat like a large pair of tweezers, with two blades hinged together, used to shape a piece of molten glass later in its forming, opening and closing the blades against the rotating glass on the blowpipe or punty to narrow, groove or refine its shape. They are one of the small set of hand tools, alongside the blowpipe, the punty and the marver, that a glassblower works a piece with at the bench.
