Bicycle Touring is the hobby of taking self-contained cycling trips for pleasure, adventure or personal independence rather than for sport, commuting or exercise. A tour can range from a single day out to an extended journey spanning weeks or months, carrying camping and living gear on the bicycle itself, and a touring cyclist may plan their own route freely or join a trip organized by a dedicated touring business, a local cycling club, or a charity fundraising ride.
