Everyday Carry

Everyday carry, often abbreviated EDC, is the practice of consistently carrying a personal set of useful items on ones person for daily utility, self sufficiency, and preparedness. A typical kit draws from items such as a watch, pen, wallet, knife, flashlight, lighter, keys, phone, multi-tool, tissues, medication, and personal care items, chosen and combined according to the carriers own occupation, lifestyle, and needs, and distributed across pockets or dedicated carry gear such as bags, pouches, or vests. Around this practical habit an online hobbyist subculture has grown up, in which enthusiasts compare and refine their own kit and carry method, collect and evaluate tools for their design, materials, and craftsmanship, and are served by manufacturers who market gear directly to this audience. A common saying within the community, that the best tool is the one actually on hand when needed, sums up its practical, gear focused character.
