Trading Card Collecting is the practice of collecting trading cards, small cards that usually carry an image of a real or fictional person, place or thing along with a short description and other text such as statistics or trivia. Trading cards can be collected purely as a hobby, and some kinds are also used to play games. They are often distributed together with retail products such as cigarettes, bubblegum or tea, and collectors assemble multiple cards from the same set, trading individual cards, known as singles, to complete it; the cards are especially associated with sports, though they cover a wide range of other subjects as well.
