Disneyana Collecting

Disneyana Collecting is the pursuit of gathering Disneyana, the wide range of toys, books, animation cels, theme-park souvenirs, ephemera and other items produced or licensed by the Walt Disney Company, spanning nearly every Disney character and property from Mickey Mouse merchandise to vintage stock certificates signed by Walt Disney himself. Collectors had used the term informally since the 1960s and 1970s, but Cecil Munsey's 1974 book Disneyana: Walt Disney Collectibles brought it into wide use, and the hobby grew substantially through the 1980s and 1990s. The Disneyana Fan Club, founded in 1984 and the oldest surviving Disney fan or collector club, now runs nearly 30 chapters across the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia, while Disney itself hosts collector-facing events including the Official Disneyana Convention and the D23 Expo. The name Disneyana remains untrademarked.
